Modified Porsche Panamera to be built in Portimão
17/4/2010
World-renowned Italian company N.Technology signed a contract with Parkalgar and Portimão Council last week which foresees the construction of an N.Technology factory at the Algarve MotorPark’s Technological Park, which is intended be the company’s headquarters in the future.

Manuel da Luz, Portimão Mayor, Paulo Pinheiro, Parkalgar Director, and Mauro Sipsz, Chairman of N.Technology, signed the contract for the construction of the Technological Park’s first factory, marking an important step for the development of the racetrack’s facilities. “This is the beginning of a new phase for the Algarve MotorPark project, it is a very important stage for us” said Paulo Pinheiro, adding “with the completion of the kart track and the tourist development now in sight, we are putting the Technological Park into action with N.Technology, world renowned for transforming racing vehicles.” The company’s first project at hand is the production of a competition model of the Panamera S, the first time Porsche is allowing a third party to develop a competition model of their vehicle. The modified Porsche Panamera S will be competing in the Superstars Championship, with the vehicle’s inaugural race taking place at the Algarve MotorPark on May 23rd. “The Panamera is our new project and we are very focused on that, for the Superstars” said Mauro Sipsz, adding that the company currently has other projects on line, but it is “too soon to mention names, however we are in contact with three major international companies.” The N.Technology Chairman is very pleased with the project “It is an excellent opportunity for our company, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. I am certain it will be a profitable deal for all parties and I would like to thank the Algarve MotorPark, Portimão Council and our partners in Portugal, Paulo Ferreira and Nuno Couceiro for the finalising of this venture.”
The construction of the custom built 3,700 square metre infrastructure is Portimão Council’s responsibility, in line with the Council’s strategy to promote investments in the region, with the Italian subsidiary paying rent for the space. “The racetrack cannot survive with only sport events, it must also focus on attracting investments” said Manuel da Luz. The Mayor also said that N.Technology’s involvement “is a very interesting start for the Technological Park” and is sure this investment will attract others: “Investment attracts investment and the Council supports enterprises like this.”
Construction of the factory is planned to begin in June this year and should be completed within eight months, according to the Mayor, representing a total investment of around €3million. Besides the factory, equipped with a wind tunnel, assembly and production lines, N.Technology will be creating the competition team’s headquarters, a commercial department and a driving school. It is estimated to be hiring 25 workers initially, which could grow to 50 in a short space of time. The company’s contract lasts until 2026.
